Luca Gattinoni, coordinator of the T-FITNESS project, presented the project at the ESIL e-Pitching session in May 2026. ESIL is an EIC-funded initiative aimed at connecting Business Angels, investors, and innovation actors with European research teams, helping promising projects move from research results toward venture creation and market adoption.
The event provided an opportunity to introduce T-FITNESS to the investor community and share its approach to one of the major challenges in cell therapy: T-cell exhaustion.
T-FITNESS is developing a synthetic-immunology platform designed to make immune cells more resilient, more tunable, and more effective against solid tumors. At the core of the approach is a simple but powerful idea: a CAR-T cell that can sense exhaustion before it fully sets in and self-correct autonomously. The presentation also highlighted the progress achieved so far, including validated miRNA regulators, proof of concept in primary T cells, high knock-in efficiency, and a clear roadmap toward platform expansion and clinical translation. These results reflect the strength of the T-FITNESS consortium and the value of European collaboration in advancing deep-tech innovation.
The project’s participation in the ESIL session marked an important step in sharing its vision with the broader innovation and investment community.
